Density of NdFeb magnet

March 11,2023

Ndfeb magnet is a kind of rare earth permanent magnet alloy material. It has the advantages of high magnetic properties and high cost performance, so it is widely used in electroacoustic, motor, aerospace, medical and other fields. Today, take you to understand the density knowledge of NdFeb magnet. The density of magnet is one of the most important reference indicators for evaluating the quality of magnetic materials. For standardized production, density control is critical.

The theoretical density of Ndfeb compound is 7.62g/cm³, and the density of sintered NdFeb magnet is 7.5g/cm³.

With the development of production technology, the density of ndFeb magnets will also change, which will affect the overall magnetic properties. The density of NdFeb is related to the material composition. When small amounts of elements such as dysprosium and terbium are added, the density can become higher.

For example:

Grade N35, density 7.5g/cm³

Grade N50, density 7.55g/cm³

Grade N42SH, density 7.6g/cm³

Grade N55, density 7.65g/cm³

There are many other types of magnetic materials, such as general magnetic ferrites, high temperature resistant samarium cobalt magnets, aluminum-nickel-cobalt alloys or bond magnets, which vary in density depending on the molding method or material.

Now the density of several common magnetic materials is:

Sintered NdFeb, density about 7.5g/cm³;

Bonded NdFeb, density about 6g/cm³;

Samarium cobalt (SmCo), density about 8.4g/cm³;

Alnico materials, density about 7.3g/cm³;

Sintered ferrite, density about 4.9g/cm³;

Injection molded ferrite, density about 3.8g/cm³;
